Located near the village of Port Askaig on the northern tip of the island of Islay, the Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 and has historically used spring water from the Margadale Spring, which is known for its purity. Unlike many Islay whiskeys, Bunnahabhain's flagship products are known for their unpeated profile, although the distillery also produces lightly peated expressions.

Swell by Spirits is created in 2021 by Michael Barbaria. Its bottlings come from a meticulous selection of exceptional barrels in collaboration with each producer, to which it pays homage by succeeding in captivating the most discerning taste buds of enlightened amateurs. Its bottles, with a design just as original as the liquid they contain, make Swell de Spirits a key player on the independent scene.

The Bunnahabhain distillery has four stills, two of which are original, which are among the largest on the island of Islay. They are only 47% full so that the must is in greater contact with the copper of the walls. Slow distillation accentuates the fruity character of the distillates. Production is manual and aging is done on site to offer the most natural whiskey possible.
