Founded by James Stuart & Co, the Glenrothes Distillery quickly gained fame thanks to its meticulous approach to distilling. Situated in Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, the distillery benefits from the pure water of the Ardcanny Spring and the richness of the local soils, ideal for growing barley. It is said that in 1879, on the very day of the distillery's inauguration, a fire destroyed part of the facilities. Rather than becoming discouraged, the founders took this event as an omen of resilience. They quickly rebuilt the distillery, further improving its infrastructure. This indomitable spirit is an integral part of Glenrothes’ identity. 

The Roots, founded by Joren and Pieter, is an independent bottler relatively new to the spirits scene, dedicated to discovering and showcasing the most distinctive and authentic spirits. These enthusiasts strive to reveal hidden treasures of distilleries, by offering unique bottlings with a magical and enchanting appearance. With limited production, The Roots makes no compromises: Quality always takes over quantity!

Like all "The Roots" productions, a non chillfiltered whisky with a natural colour. Bottled after nearly 40 years of aging in a Hogshead Bourbon cask, Glenrothes 1985 by The Roots is an elegant and sophisticated whisky. An absolute rarity with only 33 bottles produced.
